"Direct Child Sponsorship" - How it works:
| replying to the e-mails from the sponsors, and transferring their donations to Mozambique | Visit to find out what are the present greatest needs of each family of sponsored children | Shopping in the market of the village of Gurué, with Sr. Rosa |

| the "charity car" with donations bought with the donations sent by the sponsors to their respective children | Delivery of these food and goods, etc | Sending to the sponsors all the photos. These photos are about the delivery of the goods, and also other photos. The updated accountancy is sent as well by e-mail. |
"Direct Child Sponsorship"

| the sponsor sends the donation to the account | the donation is trasferred to Mozambique |
|
||
| The aid from the sponsor to the child | ||||
| sending photos and accountancy by e-mail | finding out what are the basic needs each month | |||
| buying the goods and food in the market |
These children benefit from their sponsors in different ways:
| buying goods and food, as needed | they are motivated to go to school (in case they aren't yet) | they get their personal documentation (in case they haven't yet) | ||
| sending accountancy of their sponsorship | relationship with the sponsorship | HIV testing (in cases where it is needed) | ||
| sending by e-mail news and updates | photo sharing | sending and receiving letters, drawings, etc (by e-mail) |

The "direct sponsorship" seeks to be a means to enable a gesture of global
citizenship, directly supporting an orphan child or vulnerable situation in
Mozambique. (
http://apadrinhamento.webs.com) .
Currently there are already plenty of options for sponsorship of children
through organizations and associations, national and international.
Alternatively, you can choose to sponsor "directly" a child or family in need,
without going through any intermediary organizations, with staff, operating
costs, personnel expenses, facilities, etc..
In this case, there is a volunteer in Mozambique that is proposed to mediate
this sponsorship personally, locally and directly by the monetary donations
transferred by itself, which sponsors the child.
The children supported living in two zones, corresponding to two forms of support. Both are district Gurué, Zambezia Province, northern Mozambique, an area that is relatively underdeveloped and poor in this country.
The locations of Invinha and Mepariua are located at 15 and 20 km south of the city of the Guru, in the countryside, where the peasant population in a very rudimentary living in huts, scattered on the forest.
The children are supported all orphans of father and some are orphans of father also being supported by the maternal grandmother. In some cases, parents died due to HIV / AIDS. Children living in huts of their families. Your donation will allow them to be bought essentials such as food, clothing and school supplies, which will be delivered directly to their homes. As possible, will be sent photos of regular delivery of goods, as well as news, photos and accounts related to support the sponsored child alone.
The orphanage Lar Rainbow (http://lararcoiris.no.sapo.pt) receives about 30 orphans and vulnerable. It is located in the city of Gurué, 15 km north of the town of Invinha. Due to the global economic crisis, the Rainbow Home lost both international support it had. The sisters responsible for Lar Rainbow also work in state schools as teachers in primary education. They offer their own salary to Home Rainbow, to try to support these children, who obviously do not pay anything to live here.
Thanks to the "direct sponsorship" can help the Rainbow Home in spending on foster children. Your donation will be delivered directly and "in hand" Sr. Assucena who will be responsible for its implementation for the benefit of your sponsored child. As possible, will be sent photos of delivery, as well as photos and news of the sponsored child.
In this map:

To see the location of Home Rainbow, will have to reduce the expansion of the map (with the mouse wheel), and / or move the map to the northwest.Playing with the mouse in the blue markers to get information from children supported living there.
The "direct patronage" try "approach" the godmother / godfather of her goddaughter / o in his gesture of affection and solidarity, improving living conditions through the application of monetary donations (or materials) offered by each other and exchange photos, letters and news via email.
Given the long distance between the godmother / godfather of her goddaughter /, it is clear that the most practical, economical, fast and secure way to send donations for the transfer or deposit. Donations received are used entirely to support the sponsored child for themselves.
The donation can be deposited or transferred to the account in Portugal, to reduce the costs that would have a wire transfer your donation to Mozambique. Quarterly donations are transferred to Mozambique, together, reduce the costs to a minimum.

While their donations are not used, they belong to you, and I blame myself for keeping them until they are applied. If requested, I can return them to you, since you have not yet been applied to his godson / a.
In the case of children Invinha and Mepariua, essential goods purchased are photographed at time of delivery. For children of Home Rainbow, monetary donations are photographed on return to Sr Assucena responsible for the orphanage.
Besides pictures, you will receive via e-mail to their accounts. Its accounts are sent whenever updated with their donations or expenditure.
Your sponsorship of its accounting has several advantages. Besides giving great transparency to the application of their donations, also allow you to manage your sending donations. So, if you see that your balance is still good enough, you can delay sending its usual donation, or vice versa. Thus, it is the godfather who manages the regularity and amount of donations sent freely.
There is no obligation in sending donations. Only reports that the usual monthly expenses, to purchase essential goods necessary for each child, are between 30 to 50 euros on average.
On the issue of generous donations, often the shipping costs make this option economically inefficient. Furthermore, the delivery time is one to two months. Although the misplacement can happen, the fact is that all the bridesmaids sent arrived today and all conditions. Unquestionably, however, the joy of the child to get an order sent directly by the sponsor, and rewarding for the sponsor to see the child with the items they personally chosen and sent. I have witnessed this and nevertheless, many patrons do the same question to send via CTT.

Note: In addition to writing the address, it must also write (and visible), but elsewhere in the box that order, in large and legible, that the order "for the attention of Victor Roach, Gurué - Invinha.
The process still has some more features: The orders arrive at the capital, Maputo. But Invinha in the district of Gurué, located inside the north, 1800 km north of Maputo (the address given above). Consequently, after arriving in Maputo, the Sisters will wait until there is some sister (or other trusted person) traveling by airplane is to Quelimane (and has little baggage in the hold, not to pay for excess baggage). Then, it is expected that some sister car travel in the remaining 350 km to the Invinha, as it is within the north, without regular domestic flights.
Where possible to send photos and news of the sponsored child, both in the supply of donations and other visits. Occasionally it can exchange letters and drawings by the child support.
Drawings and letters made by the sponsored child is photographed and sent via email.
The letters or pictures godmother or godfather are printed and delivered. We try to also photograph the child receiving the letter or photo sent to him.
The child's godmother or (sponsor) support will depend on the situations, of course, that has not been sponsored. Possibly you will receive data from two or more children in order to indicate which will sponsor.
This Catholic mission, where I, is located in the rural interior of northern Mozambique, specifically the town of Invinha, Gurué District, Zambezia Province, which is where I work as a volunteer (you can get more information, visit http:/ / psfassis.com.sapo.pt / peraimundoabeirao.html).
The "direct sponsorship" began with the collaboration of Sister Rosa Tique, who is a nun of the Congregation of the Franciscan Hospitaller Sister of the Immaculate Conception (http://www.confhic.com) and perform the duties of a nurse at the Center of Health Invinha. It helps me, especially in the selection of the most needy, but also in other tasks, occasionally.
This congregation, CONFHIC, was founded in Lisbon in the late nineteenth century and today has missions in four continents, working in Mozambique of 1922, "doing good where there is good to do." Specifically, this mission CONFHIC here in Invinha, (inside northern Mozambique), was founded in 1958.
Working here in Invinha since January 2006 and is involved in a situation of generalized poverty and underdevelopment, I could not remain indifferent. However, I obviously lack the resources to provide some practical support, especially to the many orphans and vulnerable children, the poor innocent victims of this reality, while many abandoned, or quasi-abandonment or poor support due to no longer have parents. Through the direct sponsorship "could actually help these orphans and vulnerable children in their basic needs, thanks to donations sent by their godfather or godmother.
In November 2008, one person in my family, my cousin, residing in Portugal, he asked me could be directly sponsor a child here, the Invinha, through me, instead of resorting to a sponsoring organization. I accepted, and began to apply the donations sent to me by bank transfer, and sent him pictures of deliveries of goods so acquired. The satisfaction and enthusiasm of my cousin took her to invite colleagues, and so on, the number of mentors and sponsors has grown, until now, already exceed the four tens. From the beginning, this initiative was accompanied by the indispensable assistance of Sister Rosa, a nun nurse who works in this mission. Later, in late 2009, began to sponsor children from the orphanage "Home Rainbow", as this orphanage suffers from lack of support due to the economic crisis.
There is absolutely no employees or salaries or operating costs associated organizations or associations. Of course, this work is only possible thanks to the work is all voluntary and completely free. In addition, all the necessary resources (computer, Internet, car, facilities, etc.., They are lent by the Sisters of CONFHIC, and belong to this aa her social work.
The work of the "direct
sponsorship," involves several kinds of tasks, all performed by one volunteer:
- Visits to sponsored
children, to determine the specific needs and the current location of the huts
where they live (the difficulty is increased because located at 6 15 km by dirt
roads in a region of high rainfall)
- After you organize
shopping lists, travel to the city of Gurué to make purchases, prepare the
shopping and deliver the goods purchased with the donations sent by each
sponsor, to their child support.
- The delivery of goods
and all visitors are photographed, and then uploads the photos to her godmother
(or godfather).
- Are prepared slide in
PowerPoint, using the photos to support the child support.
- It is made and sent
regularly records in Excel, where the donations received credit and debit the
expenditure on goods purchased and delivered to your sponsored child, in order
to improve the balance of your sponsorship.
- Donations received are
processed and delivered proof of the statement which was credited with the
donation in the form of PDF and Excel file with the records from the referral
date.
- Quarterly transfer is
made joint donations, Portugal - Mozambique, which makes the process more
economical.
- The exchange of the
correspondence via email with each of the 40 and sponsors.
- Prepared the patronage
of new children in vulnerable situations and need support, preparing photographs,
records and data.
- Are answered requests
for patronage, and kept their records and data from the referral.
- Creation and
maintenance of Internet presence through the Web
site, blog, twitter, facebook, etc..
Currently the work (above)
is totally done by just one person, being here in Invinha, the place where the
children reside.
My capacity is limited,
because in addition to this volunteer work, I collaborate in the work of social Sisters is
the Boys' Home of Invinha, and I have the job of government secondary school of the
Sisters.
The working conditions
here are not those we are accustomed. Lines
of communication paths are often muddy mountain because of high rainfall. The
power reaches very few places, and it often cuts hampering work to the computer,
for example. There is a wireless phone and mobile phone signal is very weak.
Main form of communication is via a telephone system to areas underdeveloped
rural as "fixed-wireless" This system is very limited, because the signal is
weakened by crossing the mountains at a distance of 15 km. This
phone system is allowing us to also have a rudimentary Internet service, similar
to primitive systems "dial-up, but is always falling, and sometimes spend days
without being able to access the Internet, requires an understanding of and
sponsors .
